The industry is treated with so much hostility that no one would dare invest in it apart from the government which is forced to. The funding is so little that quality of movies remains in question. Very little is left for marketing the film and trailer production. The first Grader is a Kenyan film released in 2010. The movie narrows in on the true story of one Kimani Maruge, an 84 year old who struggles to go back to school in a time loomed by post colonial cripple. Okay, the movie was even featured in the Tribeca Film Festival awards which was a big thing back then, but the trailer views are disappointing- this also explains the low number of people who even watched the movie.
